Website chat: one line on any site

Connect website chat, paste the script before </body>, and visitors reach your inbox.

Website chat puts a chat bubble on your own website. Visitors' messages arrive in the inbox as conversations and your replies appear in their chat window. It is an inbox account; it does not publish.

Step by step

  1. As an Owner or Admin: Set up → Accounts → click Website chat under Connect an account (or + Connect another for a second site). The form Connect website chat opens.
  2. Fill in the fields (see below) and click Connect account.
  3. On the new row click Settings. Under Add the chat to your website you see a one-line script. Click Copy code.
  4. Paste it once before the closing </body> tag of every page where the bubble should appear. WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and plain HTML all accept it (use the theme's footer or "custom code" area).
  5. Open your site: the bubble appears bottom right. Send yourself a message; it arrives in the inbox.

Fields and options

  • Website name (required) - shown at the top of the chat window.
  • Website address (optional) - for example https://www.example.com. When set, the chat only works on that site (www and the bare domain count as the same site). Leave it empty to allow any site.
  • Greeting (optional) - the first line visitors see, up to 200 characters.
  • Accent colour (optional) - a hex colour like #4f46e5 (the default). Anything else is refused with The accent colour must be a hex value like #4f46e5.
  • Optional attributes you can add to the script tag yourself: data-position="left" puts the bubble bottom left; data-lang="ar" forces Arabic. Without data-lang the chat follows the page's language (Arabic pages get a right-to-left chat; other languages get English).

Change the name, greeting or colour later

Owners and admins: on the website chat's row click Settings. Under Chat settings change Website name, Website address, Greeting or Accent colour (pick it or type a hex value), then click Save chat settings. Saved. Visitors see the change within about a minute. confirms it (a visitor with the chat already open sees it when they next load a page). Other roles do not see Chat settings. The code on your site stays the same; do not replace it. Emptying Greeting removes it; emptying Website address lets the chat run on any site.

What visitors see

A bubble; when opened, your greeting, optional Your name (optional) and Email (optional) fields, a message box and Start chat (it becomes Send after the first message). Their messages arrive in the inbox with their name, email and the page they wrote from. Your replies appear in their window within seconds while it is open. Returning visitors on the same browser continue the same conversation.

Good to know

  • Disconnect stops the chat, usually at once and at the latest within about 30 seconds: pages opened after that show nothing, and a page a visitor already has open keeps its bubble until it is reloaded.
  • The code is public by design (it is in your page's source). It can only send messages to your inbox and read the visitor's own conversation.
