Pinterest: connect an account and publish pins

Sign in with Pinterest, then publish pins with one image to the board you choose on the Create page.

Before you start

  • You have a Pinterest account. Every pin goes to a board. While Pinterest is still reviewing OmniBrand you do not need one: see What you should know below. After that, create a board on Pinterest first if the account has none.

Step by step

  1. As an Owner or Admin: Set up → Accounts → click Pinterest under Connect an account.
  2. The Pinterest window opens. Log in and allow OmniBrand to read your account, boards and pins, and to create pins and boards.
  3. The account appears as a row, named with its Pinterest username. Its boards are read while it connects.

Publish a pin

  1. On the Create page (/app/create), write the caption and add one image (JPEG or PNG, up to 20 MB). A pin needs a picture: Pinterest takes no text-only pins, and OmniBrand does not send videos or carousels to Pinterest.
  2. Tick the Pinterest account under the channels. A box Pinterest board · [account name] appears below them: choose a board in its list (Pick a board…). Until you do, it says "Pick a Pinterest board first", and the post cannot go to that account.
  3. The pin's title is the first line of the caption (up to 100 characters), and its description is the caption (up to 800 characters).
  4. Schedule or publish as usual. Retract works, and the pin's statistics are collected.

What you should know

  • While Pinterest is still reviewing OmniBrand (the Accounts page says "Pinterest has given OmniBrand trial access."), new pins are visible only to you on Pinterest. Others see them once Pinterest has approved OmniBrand; there is nothing to do on your side.
  • During that review the Pinterest board list does not show the boards on your Pinterest profile: it shows the boards of the account's Pinterest test space. When that space has none, OmniBrand makes one named OmniBrand while the account connects, so the list has at least that board. A board you create on Pinterest during the review does not appear, and Reconnect does not add it; pick OmniBrand. Your own boards appear after the first Reconnect once Pinterest has approved OmniBrand.
  • Comments and messages on Pinterest do not reach the inbox; they are answered on Pinterest itself.

If something goes wrong

  • The box says "This Pinterest account has no boards. Create a board on Pinterest, then click Reconnect on the Channels page." Create a board on Pinterest, then click Reconnect on the account's row so the board is read. (During the review, click Reconnect without creating a board: OmniBrand makes the OmniBrand board again.)
  • A board you made after connecting is not in the list: click Reconnect on the account's row. The list is read when the account connects. (During the review your own boards are not listed; see What you should know.)
  • Publishing stops with "Pick a Pinterest board for this pin": choose a board in Pinterest board on the post, then schedule or publish it again.
