Email newsletters
Publish a post to a forwarding email account and every active subscriber receives it; how it differs from an email broadcast.
A forwarding email account (see Email forwarding) keeps a subscriber list. Publishing a post to it sends the post as a newsletter to every active subscriber. Microsoft 365 and IMAP mailboxes do not send newsletters.
Subscribers
- On the email account's row click Settings. Newsletter subscribers shows the counts: active, unsubscribed, bounced.
- Click Manage subscribers.
- In the box Add subscribers - one per line or comma separated; Name <address> works too, paste the addresses and click Add. The result reads, for example, "12 added · 3 already on the list · 1 invalid". Up to 5,000 addresses per paste.
- Use Search addresses to find someone, and Remove to take them off the list. Each row shows Active, Unsubscribed or Bounced.
Sending
- Create a post and choose the email account as a target. The first line becomes the subject; the rest is the body; attached images are embedded. Approval and scheduling work as for any account.
- Every email carries a personal one-click unsubscribe link; unsubscribing marks the address Unsubscribed and it is skipped from then on.
- An address that bounces permanently is marked Bounced and skipped next time.
- Replies to a newsletter go to your own address (the account's address), not into the inbox.
Newsletter or email broadcast?
- A newsletter is a post: you write it in Create, publish it to the email account (next to the same post on your social accounts, if you like), and it goes to every active subscriber of that account, with the first line as the subject.
- An email broadcast (Engage → Email broadcasts, see Email broadcasts) is a one-off email written for email: its own subject, preview text, button and the person's first name. It can go to this account's subscribers and to contacts who agreed to email marketing (a list or segment of them, too), and it has a simulation, a test email to yourself, a schedule, the messaging rules (send windows and frequency caps) and results per person: delivered, clicks, unsubscribes and bounces. It can be part of a campaign.
- Both are sent from the same account, with its Sender name and its address for replies, and share its subscriber list: someone who unsubscribes from either one is Unsubscribed on the list and gets neither again.
