Post statuses: Draft, Awaiting approval, Scheduled, Publishing, Published, Retrying, Failed
What each per-account status means, what you can do in it, and how to fix and resend a failed post.
A post has a status on each account it goes to. You see it as a badge on the content item page, in the Calendar and in Records. The same post can be Published on one account and Failed on another.
The statuses
- Draft — the account was added but nothing was checked yet. You can edit freely. Next: Validate.
- Checking — the platform's rules are being checked.
- Needs a fix — the platform's rules refused the post (text too long, missing media, wrong format…). The problems are listed under the row. Edit the variant, then Validate again.
- Awaiting approval — passed the checks and waits for an approver. Editing the text now sends it back to Draft and withdraws the open approval request, so approvers always see the latest text.
- Approved — ready to go: Publish now or Schedule. Editing the text sends it back to Draft, because the approval was for the old text.
- Scheduled — it will go out at the chosen time. It cannot be edited; unschedule it first.
- Publishing — it is being sent to the platform (in the queue or in progress). It cannot be edited.
- Published — it is live. View post opens it; Collect metrics fetches its numbers. You can take it down with Retract (see Editing a content item).
- Retrying — the platform had a temporary problem; OmniBrand tries again by itself. The post is locked until the retry finishes, because the retry sends the text as it is now and it must stay the approved text. It then becomes Published, or Failed when the attempts run out.
- Failed — it could not be published and will not be tried again by itself.
Fixing a failed post
- Open the content item from Content or from Records.
- Press Edit on the variant and correct the text, hashtags or media. Saving moves every failed account of that variant back to Draft.
- Press Validate, then get it approved and Schedule or Publish now again, as for a new post.
Alternatively, an Owner or Admin with the Publish task can press Retry in Records (or on Today) to send it again unchanged.
Changing a post that is Approved or Scheduled
- If it is Scheduled, click it on the Calendar and press Unschedule. It goes back to Approved with no time. (Editing a Scheduled post is refused with "This post is scheduled on 1 channel. Unschedule it first…")
- Press Edit on the variant and change it. Saving sends every Approved account of that variant back to Draft.
- Press Validate, get it approved again (Approve, or Request approval in a workspace with an approval chain), then Schedule or Publish now.
Good to know
- Retry is refused while the account needs reconnecting; reconnect it in Accounts first.
- The content item's own status (Draft, In review, Approved, Scheduled, Published, Archived) is a separate label; see Content.
