The setup wizard: your first post in four steps

The four steps a new account starts with - Your business, Your first post, Connect a channel and Publish - and Back, Skip for now and Finish later.

Right after you sign up, OmniBrand opens the setup wizard (/app/setup): four short steps, one at a time, that take you from an empty account to your first post. It fills the whole screen. At the top you see the OmniBrand name, "Step [n] of 4" with a progress bar, the four step names (Your business, Your first post, Connect a channel and Publish) and Finish later. Only Owners and Admins use it: anyone else who opens the address is taken to Today. Members you invite join through their invitation and never see the wizard.

Moving through the steps

  • Back (bottom left; not on the first step) returns to the step before, with what you entered still there.
  • Skip for now goes on to the next step without doing this one. You can come back to it later.
  • Each step's main button (bottom right; the full width of the screen on a phone) does the step and goes on: Save and continue, Next or Finish.
  • Finish later (top right) takes you to Today and keeps your place. Today then shows the card Continue setup with "Step [n] of 4: [step name]": click Continue setup to come back to that step, or Hide to put the card away. Set up at the top of Today always opens the wizard again.
  • Your place is saved for your organisation, so the wizard opens at the same step on another computer or phone. The post written on step 2 is kept in this browser until you click Finish.
  • Not confirmed your email address yet? The amber Confirm your email banner shows at the top of the wizard too, with Send the link again. It is not a step: everything in the wizard works before you confirm.

Step 1: Your business ("Tell us about your business")

Choose one of the three ways to describe your business. Each fills the same four fields under Your business details, which you can change before you save.

  1. I have a website: type the address in Your website address (yourbusiness.com is enough) and click Fill in with AI. While it works the button says "Reading your website...". Then "Done. Check the details below and change anything that is not right." appears and the fields are filled in.
  2. Use my social media page: the platforms that connect for everyone now are listed (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube or Google Business, as set up on your OmniBrand). Click Connect on yours and finish signing in through the window that opens; platforms still waiting for the platform's approval are named in a line under them. Once connected, "Connected: [account name]" shows: click Fill in from my posts, and the AI reads your recent posts and fills in the fields. A channel connected here also counts for step 3. If the page has no posts the AI can read yet, the step says so and offers Describe it myself.
  3. Describe it myself: type a sentence or two in Describe your business in a sentence or two and click Help me write this to have the AI fill in the fields, or type them yourself.
  4. Check the fields: Business name (required, up to 120 characters), What you sell or offer (separate items with commas), Who your customers are (required) and How you want to sound (two to five words, separated by commas).
  5. Click Save and continue. This becomes your brand profile and is in use at once: the AI writes with it from now on, with nothing to approve. In a new account it also renames your workspace (and your organisation, while this is its only workspace and it still has its sign-up name, "[First name]'s workspace") to your business name. Change the profile any time in The brand profile (Brand Brain).

Step 2: Your first post ("Let AI write your first post")

  1. Click a topic (Introduce my business, Show a product or service, Announce a special offer, Share a useful tip, Behind the scenes or Thank my customers), or type your own in Or write your own topic.
  2. Leave Also make a picture with AI ticked for a picture, or untick it.
  3. Click Write my post. The AI writes the text and hashtags in your brand's voice, then makes the picture ("Making your picture..."). Nothing is published yet.
  4. Change the text under Your post and the Hashtags as you like. Write it again writes a new version of the topic, Make another picture makes a new picture and Remove picture takes it off.
  5. Click Next.

The AI uses your free AI trial, your package's included generations or your own AI key. If your package has no AI, or the trial has ended or is used up, the package pop-up opens; you can still click Skip for now. If the picture cannot be made, the step says "The picture could not be made. Your text is ready, and you can go on without a picture."

Step 3: Connect a channel

  • Under Ready to connect, each platform that connects for everyone now has a tile with Connect. Most open a sign-in window ("Opens a sign-in window"): finish signing in there and the account shows under Connected. Telegram, Bluesky, Mastodon, website chat, email and WhatsApp open their form on the Accounts page; Back to setup at the top of that page brings you back here.
  • A line under the tiles names the platforms waiting for the platform's approval: until it approves OmniBrand, only its test users can connect.
  • If your browser blocks the sign-in window, the sign-in runs in this tab and brings you back to this step.
  • Once an account is connected, click Next. No channel yet? Click Skip for now: your first post is kept.

Step 4: Publish

  • With a channel connected ("Publish your first post"): tick the accounts under Post to, choose Publish now, or Schedule and pick the Date and time, then click Publish now or Schedule post. The step says where your post stands, for example "Your post is scheduled. Today and Calendar show it." If a platform refuses the post (Instagram needs a picture, for example), the step lists why; click Back to fix it on step 2.
  • With no channel ("Your post is ready"): Copy text copies the text and hashtags, Download image saves the picture, and Save as draft keeps the post under Content, to publish from Create once you connect a channel on Accounts.
  • Skipped step 2? The step says "You skipped your first post, so there is nothing to publish yet." with Write my first post.
  • Click Finish. Today opens with You are all set (after publishing: "Your first post is on its way. Today shows what is scheduled and what went out."); Close puts it away.

If something goes wrong

  • "Enter your website's address, for example yourcompany.com." under Your website address: type the address of your public website. "We could not reach [address]. Check the spelling, or fill in the fields below yourself." means the name does not exist on the internet (often a typing mistake); fix it, or choose Describe it myself.
  • "Enter your business name." or "Say who your customers are, in a few words.": fill in the field named.
  • The sign-in was cancelled or refused: the reason shows in red on the step. Try again, or click Skip for now.
  • The wizard sends you to Today: only Owners and Admins set up the account.
